Tickets arrived today for me, too.
We shall be joining you guys at the TIPEC show area.
Looking forward to a good weekend, and, as Sean says - let's hope for a bit of good weather.
Bob

If last year is anything to go by, bring your dusters - it was hellishly windy!
Oh, and the gazebos won't last.......

Last year was windy, but glorious sunshine for the full weekend - let's hope the sun shines on us for this year.

Any news on this with regard to weather seeing all the rain we have had ans expecting, last year we parked on grass and the drive in-field was a muddy/gravel track so could be tricky

Dunno mate, Dean coordinated with the organisers, Dean?
I do think the Land Rover Mud Track club are well up for it.

From talking to some photographers who have been to Donington already this year, I believe things are much the same. The infield is still a shambles and all that has been "done" is some demolition of old buildings in the paddock. Expect to be parking on the same grass and driving along the same gravel / mud track.

Thanks for the insider knowledge.

I must admit I tried to find out, I looked on Google satellite view, and it didn't look as if it had changed mch either.

I'd forgotten about that access "road" from last year, and how windy it was! Have fond memories of trying in vain to close the porta-khazi door which was being torn from my hands by ferocious gale!

The access road was worthy of tank training. The whole place made you think how crazy the dream was of getting F1 races there.

Am heading for more manicured environment of the Catton Hall show instead this year. Hope all going to Donington have a fine time though

It should be amusing. The current forecast shows a couple of dry days through the week but then with some more rain the night before the event. I will be taking my tow rope and snow socks (since they're supposed to also help in mud).

Are any members with Cayennes going and do they feel up to tractor duties?

Yes,I was there a few weeks ago at the HSCC race meeting and the infield looks much the same as it was last year. :( Club parking is again on the infield at Redgate. :)

Oh yes,it ll go ahead all right and it wont be that bad.Just turn up with some stout shoes/boots and you ll be fine.Mr Gillet did a hell of a lot of bulldozing when he was trying to remodel the place and it will take some time for all that to be sorted out but the access road has been kept useable and Redgate infield wasnt touched anyway during the vandalism......oops,I mean redesign(?). .I have noticed a lot of improvements recently, one of which is the great modernisation of the PA system with speakers about every 10yds which helps a lot when you are trying to keep up with whats going on. :D Last year was a great event and this year looks to be even better but so much busier especially in the car clubs.See you all there! :)

True enough, but then the Donington infield always had the ability to turn into a quagmire during prolonged periods of rain. Certainly the event will go ahead but whether it will be sensible to take an elderly sports car into the infield to park remains to be seen.

I'm not due to be there until Sunday so I'll make a call nearer the time. If it looks like being untenable I may take the Golf and park outside, saving the 300 mile dent in my annual mileage allowance for sunnier times.

I spy with my little eye 2 Aston Martin DBR1s. One is the ex-Graham Whitehead car (DBR1/5) and I think the other is DBR1/2, the Le Mans winner. I'm happy now :D
