Hi all, just getting my 928 running in after its been stood for 3 years. I've noticed it puffs of grey smoke at high revs roughly at 3,000 or when driving and revs over 3,000rpm. At idle its perfect with no smoke. I've just given her a oil filter/oil change using 5/40. I did run her at low revs just to run her in after been stood. Any suggestions? |

Hi Umm your oil is too thin... Change it again for either 20/50 or I use 15/50 Full synthetic... I tried 0/40 when i got mine and had exactly the same smoke problem.... 05/40 IS FINE if you run a modern 911... but our engines were never designed for an oil that thin...its going past the rings and valve stem seals... And more revs...more smoke... All the best Brett |
