I have an '85 S2, which has been off the road for a few years. I'm close to MOT time, the car has developed a curious issue. If I have the engine running and close the doors sometimes central locking decides to lock. The only way to open the doors is to use another key. It only does it ocassionly, oddly the dash button doesn't work at all, neither does the key work the central locking. No fuses seem blown, and I haven't fiddled with the locking so no idea why it misbehaving.
Any ideas please?

This does happen, one of the 928 owners at the Duxford Car Show had the car self lock. :x

Does the central locking lock both doors as soon as you shut the door? or after a period of time? does it only do it if your ignition or engine is on or without keys in the ignition aswell?

Good question. I didn't know the answer, went and tried and it all behaved. I slice studied the wiring diagram more. The central locking module is powered via the x contact relay, so key in lock or running, hence the dash button not working, however there must be a second supply or the doors would not open unless the x contact was live. My best interpretation is the window lift relay ( module vi ) must supply constant live. However I didn't even know I had this function till I found it in the wiring diagram and there is nothing in the owners manual either. How and or what does it do? It looks as if it shuts the windows and sun roof when you lock up
Next question where is inline fuse Si 1
