Post subject:  like to view a 928 locally

Hi everyone,

within a few months I will be in the position to purchase a second car to put in the garage next to my classic mini.
I've now narrowed my search down to a few cars, one possible being the Porsche 928.
As with all classic/desirable cars they are always few and far between so going to look at one and sit in it etc. is usually quite difficult.

So what id like to know is..........do the 928 owners have local area monthly meets or are there any classic car or Porsche shows in the very near future, where I could come along and speak to you guys thus getting a feel for what its like to own one of the beautiful looking cars.

I know that there is a classic car show this weekend at Battlebridge in Essex and wondering if any of you guys are going to be there?
My location is Hornchurch, Essex.

Many Thanks
Nik

Hi :)

928 owners are very helpful....if as an example you found a 928 near me in Bournemouth, I would quite happly come along to inspect it (for free)

Most Tipec areas have a monthly meeting with some 928 owners...I will let others in your area say where...

All the best Brett :)

928s are fewer and farther than most (part of their appeal), but you are lucky as the biggest annual gathering of 928 owners takes place next Saturday 1st Oct, on village green at Tilford, Surrey.

There will be 40 odd cars there, spanning all years and models, giving you chance to chat to owners all of whom will be only too happy to chat and discuss their particular car.

No need to book anything, just roll up. Cars will be there from about 11 till 3.

Please come and say hello to me if you decide to attend. Mine is a late S4 auto in Amazon Green, reg EDZ928.

There will be no better opportunity this year to get the 928 owners' views.

At this stage my advice would be don't even think about owning one of these wonderful cars, unless you are prepared to do a lot of the work on them yourself.

Cheers

Adrian

Hi Nik

Just to manage expectations, it's not a show but a gathering!

We park up on the green and chat basically. May have a half and bite to eat in the Barley Mow pub by the green - Mike Hawthorne's old local.

Sounds basic, but the atmosphere and setting make it my favourite car event of the calendar, ahead of Le Mans Classic and Silverstone!

Hi Nik,
Tilford a great way to meet 928 owners as Adrian has said - also 2017 sees the 40th anniversary of the 928 with a meeting at Brooklands (on the banked circuit) and a possible gathering at Beaulieu keep an eye on this forum for details of these and othere related events.
Inorder to suggest a region that is near to you let us know part of the country you are in.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the information, funnily enough, I actually read about the 40th anniversary last night after Adrian had mentioned about the Tilford gathering. So another event to add to my calendar.

As for my location, I'm in Hornchurch, Essex.

Thanks
nik
