Hi All :)

Had a weird problem with my mirror wrap....

Over the winter it developed a sort of gray dull surface on the bonnet, top of front wings and roof... but not sides or rear....

Originally I thought it was the wrap reacting to the winter sun (although it did not do this last winter)

Eventually I figured out (with Paul Andersons help with a can of wd 40 , lol) that its was some sort of scum almost like tree sap but spread evenly....

Sooooo today I t-cut the top and bonnet of the car and once clean and shiny again I put some Autoglym Resin Polish on it to hopefully seal it....

I am adding some pictures of before/during and after....

I still cannot quite figure out why it did it or what it was...

Any ideas ???

AG super resin polish won't seal it, you need a was for that. In fact AH super resin isn't a bad mild abrasive in itself.

Hi Jim :)

To be honest , it was a real pain to t-cut/polish that stuff off...

I would use anything that would seal it.... liquid varnish if it worked lol...

Any suggestions of something that will create a rock like see through covering ??

All the best Brett :)

I use the meguiars 3 step system but always seal/wax with Collinite 476

http://www.collinite.com/automotive-wax/super-doublecoat-paste-wax/

The meguiars was lasts about 2 months
Autoglym lasted a few washes
simoniz lasted about a month
I cant remember the rest, to be honest.

Collinite: 6 months of daily use and weekly washes and you can still throw some keys over it without scratching the paintwork.
Various outlets sell it: I bought a lot the other time via cleanyourcar.co.uk as it was £16 or therabouts
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-476s-super-doublecoat-auto-wax/prod_207.html
but Amazon link is here:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Collinite-476-Super-Doublecoat-Auto/dp/B002P3ZO2E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1463942373&sr=8-2&keywords=collinite+wax

Its making it so much easier to keep the appearance one notch above dog tired!
