I spent many happy previous hours in the Christmas holiday working on my Cup-2 alloys, and the transformation is now complete.
I bought the car recently with matt-blacked wheels; they are in great condition but just a colour I could not bear on a black 928!

I decided to go for a Mirror Chrome type paint finish, which would be inexpensive and hopefully last a couple of years before I can go for a complete professional refurbishment. After some research I bought some "Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome" spray paint from the USA - inexpensive but did take 6 weeks to arrive. Worth the wait though.

I also bought some Humbrol model paints and detail painted the Porsche badges on each centre cap, these look much better now and finish off the look.
Pictures below before and after! What do you all think?
It will be interesting to see how durable this finish lasts with brake dust & cleaning etc....but at least I can bear to look at the wheels now!

Now just bring on Spring time :D

That looks sooooo much better, not a fan of black wheels anyway, dark cars need the contrast of some bright wheels or they just look like a black blob.

Very nice job they really bring the car up, well done

So much nicer in silver rather than the black, I always think the full black look makes the wheels look dirty.

+1. My daily drive is black, with black wheels and I hate it. Wheels in for refurb as I type.

Cheers,
Bryan

The chrome car makes me think of the top gear car that was made of alloy sheets

Wow I think that chrome 928 looks incredible!
Not sure I could live with my own reflection in it though...
Is it really your car Brett?
How is the interior?

The silver wheels look excellent - really transforms whole car. I remember you were unhappy with the black look when I met you (and your son?) at Merry Miller I think.

Great detail work on centre caps too. I would have made a real mess of those!

Normally I'd agree, but then again, I'd never have a yellow car either. However, if I owned say a Lamborghini, then yellow would be fantastic. My point is that when a car stands out anyway (i.e. nitrous powered, 200mph etc), then you actually need something eye catching for the exterior, so chrome is just the job.

All just subjective opinions of course!

Cheers,
Bryan

Cheers Adrian, your memory is excellent. I'm much happier with the look of the car now!
The centre caps wasnt such a bad job actually inside on a wet cold day with the correct tiny model painting brushes and tins of gold, red & black paint.

Fitted a new DAB Sony stereo today, all good, just need to save up a bit for a Paul Anderson service next month, then bring on Springtime 8) 8)

Amazing finish from an aerosol, (if that,s what it was ?) and 100% better than the awful black finish.
