Well I did say anything pre S4 was closed book to me!

Hope Paul sorts it quickly Brett. Please let me know what problem was - I'm baffled unless coincidentally relay or LH ecu failed same time as plug change, but as you say far more likely related to something you disturbed changing leads.

Cheers

Adrian

Hi Adrian :)

I am baffled as well :(

Must buy myself a 928 Bosch NOID ..... only tool I dont have lol.... any idea where I can buy one ?

Car just left on Pauls truck with Tony, so will let you know what it was....

Just pick the one with pins fitting our Bosch connectors. Almost certain to be one in this kit

Hi Adrian :)

Here is where everyone calls me an idiot....lol

Car went to Pauls... Paul didnt even bother to take it off the truck...lol

He tunred it over, pump WAS running, Injectors WERE running....

Then he looked at the leads that I changed.....

All the plug leads were fine, all going to the correct cylinders....

I had put the COIL LEADS ON THE WRONG DIZZY`S !!!!!

Twin dizzy system and Porsche in their wisdom make the RIGHT coil feed the LEFT dizzy (looking from front of car)

The LEFT coil feeds the RIGHT dizzy....

Soooo when I fitted the new coil leads I put them on what seemed to me to be the closest dizzy and as they are different length leads (one short and one long) it sort of made sense (although to be honest I never really thought about it)

I "thought" I had put them back in the same place they came from....(which is why its my idiotic fault..lol)

So although all the plug leads apart from the coil leads were correct, it was trying to fire on the exhaust stroke.... and obviously wouldnt start as not at end of the compression stroke :(

So although I am an idiot I posted the answer in case anyone else has the same problem.....

My 928 had a nice day out to Stroud.... left at 9.30 this morning and came back from its 230 mile round trip at 4 pm.... lol :)

Paul looked at it instantly and fixed it and sent it back...all in the same day...... now thats what I call service :)

All the best Brett :)

Hi Adrian :)

Yes, that IS the correct kit ( I checked with Paul) and just bought it as well :)

£10 cheaper on Ebay from that link than direct from Draper and free carriage as well :)

Many thanks again....

All the best Brett :)

That is funny Brett! I wonder how long an OPC would have spent compared with Paul?

I told you the pre-S4 engine bays were mysterious to me. On S4 the coil king lead routes to distributor on that side cam. The dizzy caps are far apart and the leads are short - it would be impossile to cross-connect them so I never thought of this, even though golden rule is to think about last thing you did. None of us saw wood for trees. I'd no idea about the crossed arrangementon your car - just shows you learn about these cars every day.

Actually you did me good turn. I realised I didn't have injector test kit either, so yesterday bought that same one I sent you on ebay.

good old Paul!

Hi Adrian :)

I am not sure the local OPC would have found it easily...I suspect they would have tried crank sensor or even the LH ECU ...at my cost :)

It took Paul all of 5 minutes apparently ...lol

Thats what you get with all those years of ONLY working on 928s....

All the best Brett :)

I always used to... Just not the last time I used him - I'm not in the business of slagging people off on forums etc so I'll leave it there!

There's a difference between a subtle grumble and a rant, the former being just about acceptable :)

Hi Llew :)

To be honest the freedom to post just about anything here is one of the things I truly admire about TIPEC....

Pistonheads "no naming and shaming" rule is totally ridiculous.... someone asks "have you ever used so and so garage for your Porsche" and nobody is allowed to answer honestly if its a negative comment....their excuse is ...that so and so garage MIGHT sue PH ....

Which legally is a load of tosh... as if that garage was to sue anyone it would be the poster,,,

Personally I am ALWAYS prepared to stand by what I say....even in court...

In real life it costs so much to sue anyone for Libel or Slander that it only ever happens if someone has VERY VERY deep pockets, and I am talking 10` of thousands per case.... the average garage would NEVER EVER bother...

So I admire Tipec for their stance on this, its pleasant to see sensible forums like this, as there are so few left....

All the best Brett :)
