Hi as said in subject .whats the crack in going about getting rid off cat and air pump on 1988 German LHD car, All so after any sort of body kit happy xmas cheers.

Hi :)

Cat you can just replace with an x-pipe and some straight pipe....

Air pump you just remove...I did....

if you remove the cat then it will fail the mot as not standard.

Incorrect, cats were not a legal requirement until August 1993, they were however required in Germany & a few other markets before then.

I just installed this in the summer and am very happy with it

Good time to check the flex plate as you will be able to access it with the exhaust out of the way. I just removed the belt from the air pump and left everything in place.

As for the MOT. I just had mine done. Failed on a bunch of stuff but passed the emissions so no problem with the cat removed.
