The 928 has been stood for about 8 weeks - far longer than I would usually leave her and now won't start :(

She has been on a trickle charger but when I tried to start her up it seemed as if the battery was flat so I took it off and put it on charge
for 24 hours.

Put battery back on car and tried to start again but the battery flattened very quickly - ie after 3-4 cranks of 15 seconds

I thought the battery was shot but have just had it tested and been told its fine!?

Still think its the battery but I'm open to any suggestions

Paul

Knackered battery plus a cold engine with cold oil would be my thoughts. If you have home start with the AA or RAC their jump pack may get it going, It may go if you jump it off another car but the knackered battery may drag it down.

I assume the battery on it wasn't on a battery conditioner/charger?

Hi Paul

Sorry to hear of problem. If it was on trickle charge, but was flat when first tried to start then points to battery problem. What were symptoms when you tried starting after 8 week lay up to make you think battery was flat?

Fitted new battery (old one still testing ok!?) but clearly that was the main issue as the engine is now turning over properly.

Still won't start so once weather breaks I will have another go at getting her running

Good news, was it just the battery or was something else faulting as well?

I had an old battery on my GTS. same problem.
I brought a new one but managed to get a 90ah battery instead of the 80ah that was on it. turns over quick now.

I also remove the earth every time as no discharge then.
