Hi all,

I have become more interested in the 928 S4, this one is on EBay and comes across with low mileage and recent service.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-Porsche- ... 43c2b058eb

Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated as this 928 is in Cornwall and I am near Brighton

cheers

Neil

Hi Neil, I think it's overpriced at that money. Offer him £5k and see if he wants to keep his three-thousand pound number plate (I bet he doesn't).

I've got to be honest I'm always wary of non specialist dealers selling old Porsches for a high price. They are often never what they seem in my experience and always need work. You should expect perfection for that sort of money and ought to be looking at GTs.

Agree 100% on the dealer thing.

928 owners are guilty of "talking down" prices. £9000 is an absolute steal compared with say a 911 3.2 from same year, but it is a high price for digi-dash 928 S4. I think that's crazy but there it is.

The £3K reg does seem optimistic, and the timing belt job would be around £500 at a 928-friendly garage, much less if you did it yourself.

Nice looking car though! If you're not bothered about paying more than you could for a 928 then I would pop down to south-west and take a good look. At the worst would add to your experience of checking 928s and help you decide on alternatives if this one disappoints.

Totally agree with the above post. They are rock-bottom currently (baffles me too) but at the same time good ones are becoming more difficult to find.

I think the value of 928's will begin to increase slowly over the next few years... Which is why I want to buy the very best one I can find whilst they are still cheap!
