No way are you going to get 20 more horses, 3 maybe 4 at best.

IMHO I'd avoid and buy one from somewhere where you can go back to if it goes wrong.

Chip upgrades do work, but they are all vary in how they go about getting the extra performance.
eg Promax chip gives a very modest bhp improvement - say 3-4 bhp as Sean says, but go for Superchips say, and you will have more like 10 bhp. http://www.superchips.co.uk/models.php - but you will be paying £299!

The 944 Turbo 250bhp responds far better than the S2, giving an extra 35 bhp, but again it costs, at £499!

I think this is Steve on e bay who one of our members (Mick Floyd) bought to a meeting. Mick has one fitted & has been reasonably impressed.
Yup HP figures bit inflated & personally I think chip mods in N/A cars are a waste of money.
The reason it's so cheap, is that development done a long time ago so only cost of chip plus hassle factor. I think his normal price is £50.

Have to agree with Jim on this one :o But before you do anything put it on the Dyno & see what you have to start with. Maybe cleaning/replacing the injectors or sorting out the ignition would give you back some lost horses. A fit S2 is a pretty dam good to start with. Just make sure all the horses are there. After that your looking at a supercharger if your really nuts  There is a manifold & exhaust system thats worth a little. But it's not cheap.

The reason I asked was I am always sceptical of chipping anyway, even less so when sold via ebay.

I'm not looking for extra power to be honest, it was more of a query as to whether the 944 community test and report back on such things.

Take a look at the spreadsheet on this website:

http://www.cannell.co.uk/944%20UK%20League.htm

Several 2's have been tested, some standard, some chipped and all the results are displayed. Check the detailed spreadsheet at the bottom to see which brand of chip is used. I don't see any for Accelracing.
