Hi all

Need I need to start my s2 engine after 5 months with oil having been drained for 2 of those months.

Any advice on precautions/actions to take.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Remove plugs (i used to put a bit of Redex down the plug holes), remove DME relay. Make sure battery is fully charged and spin her up until you get oil pressure. If you oil the bores first then cover plug holes loosely with an old towel. Reinsert plugs and relay, fire up.

.....and don't be alarmed if the top end rattles like a bastard for a while till the hydraulic lifters pump up.
