 Post subject: Mystery object?

It may or may not be aftermarket. I wouldn't remove it unless you had good reason. Some factory alarms had similar boxes and mine has a similar looking thing which is part of my alarm that still works properly 30 years on.

Thank you. Hoping someone at some point can point me to the standard alarm components which Id like to get working and then I can rip out all the crap from 30 years. I do have a tiny immobiliser by the steering column, may keep that as it works, providing it doesn't clash with the stock alarm, if I can get that working.

the thing by the column does it look like a USB key.

if so then that the Hamilton Palmer Immobiliser.

if the box in the picture is down by the battery then look closely around the rear hatch trims for the sensors, if they have been removed and nothing is plugged into that box then it sounds like its redundant

Will do. Yes, there is a little black bar on my key ring that I touch on the dash on the RHS of the steering column. Then my ignition lights come on. Hope I can run this along side the old alarm when resurrected.
