When I drove my new 944 home it got hot in the cab. The heat was between the tape box and gear stick. The runner was hot.

Two questions:
1) Is there a heat shield under there (not got my hydraulic jack yet to look)

2) My car has a CAT (Dansk), the previous owner said it probably needs replacing. I think the middle section is wrapped. Thinking of changing the system in any event. Are 944 systems with Cats expensive? Where do people go for a good deal?

Thank you Rach

There is definitely a centre section heat shield as well as one above the back box. Worth inspecting although I've never seen a rotting centre section one unlike the back box covers which have a habit of disintegrating.

CAT bypass is the way I would go if faced with your choice.

Stuart

the centre shield is available from Porsche brand new
951 504 869 00 @ £144.11 Inc

and a new genuine CAT is NLA so a sports 200 cell cat or bypass is your only option
