As the title says, my battery is so dead it’s not reacting to the alarm button on my key fob and the key will not open either door or the boot !!
How am I supposed to get in to jump start it ?

You can connect the red jump lead to the starter motor, terminal with more than one big wire, and the black lead to any part of the engine

That should get you into the car

Then find a locksmith and get your keys sorted out so you can get in the car

I can’t open the bonnet, plus I have keys for the car so don’t really know what more a locksmith can do without drilling ?
Thanks anyway, I’ve got a friend coming tomorrow who’s had a similar situation before on a 1980’s vw golf.
Thanks anyway

Depending which 944 you have:

To Open the boot. The key turns the lock which trips an electric switch which then allows power to the mechanism to open the boot.

That's why above post refers to attaching a lead to give power to the starter motor which should allow power to the switch circuit. Not sure if that will help with door locks or any alarm - but you may well need power to get in.....

The starter is underneath you don't need to open the bonnet

The doors won't work because the key don't fit right, the ignition is obviously a different key to the doors, because you can always open a flat 944 with a door key manually, I would guess you have never tried the keys in the doors

Connect to the starter, this is the main power junction for the whole car,

I have two keys for my 944, the one I’ve always used and a spare which is identical.
Both keys normally open the doors and the boot if I chose to use them ( I don’t normally need them )
The key goes in and turns like normal for the boot but nothing happens, the keys go in the doors but they will not turn.
There must be something preventing this and I’m assuming it’s a dead battery, the alarm is not working too.
I know it sounds crazy but it’s true, I can not get in, I’m going to try the jump start via the starter motor when my friend arrives this afternoon.
It’s a 1989 F plate 2.7lux if that makes a difference ?
