Whilst I've been lay under the back of my car tinkering I've noticed that the rear shock absorbers are in a pretty poor state (bushings perishing and the anchor points are pretty corroded).

My car is a 1990 Turbo and the original shock absorber appears to by NLA, I also found a thread on here from a couple of years back saying that Sachs made a replacement option, I confirmed this by using the parts locator on the Sachs website but can't find anywhere that sells it...

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=22688
https://aftermarket.zf.com/go/en/sachs/ ... eTypeIDs=p

Sachs part 105 754

Original Porsche Part 95133303209

I have stock front struts which were replaced not too long ago in my ownership, so only want to source a cheaper pair of rear shocks which would compliment the original front struts.

Has anyone done this recently and have any part numbers or recommendations?

I found some other Sachs shock absorbers for the 924 / 944 but they have a different part number to the one from the Sachs database -
984 052

And are available from carparts4less here for £52 each!

I have a pair of Bilstein B6 on the rears, so much better than the brand new 968 ones I gave away

Cheap option is KYB, but it’s a shame to compromise the handling for a few quid extra

Thanks Waylander - I take it that Sachs no longer make the correct shocks for the S2 / Turbo / 968 then?

I've seen the bilsteins on Amazon for £120 each - I understand that they sometimes have offers on them so will keep them in my wishlist :bounce:

Spotted some KYBs on ebay... so will see what happens, my main concern was how bad the mounts looked on the existing ones so might have to make do for now.

Hi

I thought I would check out what your after

951 333 032 09 Is listed in PET for a 944S2, and Turbo, and been NLA since 2008 with no replacement listed

the 1992 968 has 944 333 032 04, these are available and do fit, slightly more damping as the 968 is a bit of a lardy ass, £279.71 each,

In my humble opinion very much not worth the money, I would buy a pair of B6, I got mine for £200 the pair brand new, and with some new ARB mounts and solid drop links, the rear is much more under control,

Thanks Waylander,

Yes I found a couple of places online that listed the Sachs shocks absorbers but all say "out of stock" and the online database on Sachs website says there are no shock absorbers available for the 944 Turbo.

Think it has to be either Bilstein or Koni.

Interestingly I'm finding plenty of sellers listing the standard 924 / 944 Sachs rear shock as being compatible right up until 1991 but this is wrong isn't it as the 85.5+ cars have a larger M14 bottom strut mount bolt versus the earlier cars M12 bottom strut mount.

Sachs 984 052 - ET36X144 - https://aftermarket.zf.com/go/en/sachs/ ... le/984+052

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253193728940
https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/search/635330020 - £52

95133303204 - the M030 (which have a similar part number to the 968 ones you listed) are still available from Porsche - £235.38

But these are more expensive than the Bilstein or Koni - interestingly though it says the M030 are made by Koni.

EDIT: I still have some adjustable drop links I bought from Serge944 on rennlist over 10 years ago! Been sat in a box gathering dust so will get these fitted, gives me an excuse to get my rear sway bar powder coated as well whilst I spruce up the rear underside.

I wonder how much you paid for those, I bought off an engineering shop the parts which are standard rod ends, cost me less than £20 and look identical to what you have there
