You didn't lose the spacers under the fuel rail?

Although I did take off the bolts that attach the rail to the manifold; are there spaces between them. like thick washers?

I never came across them on mine, but there are supposed to be 3x5mm spacers,I made some up by filling down some sump gasket spacers,
Part no.29

I believe mine did have at least 2....had a look & the centre one is still there. Also, did notice we had the exact same spacer loose after assembly but did not recognise where it was missing from. Will try to put it back as the ticking seems to be coming exactly from that location.

Very helpful, much appreciated.[/quote]
Be good if it did solve your issue

OK, so did the spacers as suggested. Unfortunately no progress on the ticking noise.

However, I have now put the fuel rail plastic cover back on & this seems to make the sound more spread out & not concentrated to the one injector. Which, does sound familiar to the engine noise I recall the car to have. So, most probably as Waylander suggested, the ticking noise was there all along. Only the cover was helping.

Hi

well im sort of glad you have resolved the issue, but they can be very noisey indeed, the only solution to shut them up is to change them for some modern flat plate injectors like out of the Volvo V40
