This problem makes my 1988 944 16v very unfriendly in winter so time to fix it.
The light comes on in the dash switch so juice is getting to the switch.
However, when I test the input at the rear hatch strut (thick wire on drivers side ) there is no juice coming through.
I have tested the element by putting a test light between the element strands and the battery positive terminal and it lights up so I assume the element is conducting OK,
and the earth is OK.Please correct me if this assumption is wrong.
That means the fault is between the switch and the relay or between the relay and the rear strut, right?
I have to take the steering wheel off to get the dash panel off to get at the back of the switch, and check switch wiring. Not doing that today, too cold.
If the switch wiring all looks OK where do I go from there ?
How do you check if the relay is OK and the wiring to and from it?
Excuse the dumb questions ,all help gratefully accepted.
Apart from that it's a great car
Thanks

Jeff
