Don’t need belt tools honest, just remember they are not bow strings and you will be fine

I've just received one from CP4less and its a Uro pump. Was for a 2.5 8v though.

Looks good, castings are neat, metal impeller and even came with a gasket. They were doing the front seals for pretty cheap as well.

Anyone got a set of belt tools for hire  ?

Brian

Does it say where it's made; is it branded Aftermarket on the order?

Its in a URO branded box with part no URO-007694. Main body of casting has a URO parts stamp on it with 9696 and 16G nearby. No country mentioned on anything

Waylander, I've often thought that. How do you lock the flywheel ? and what do you use in place of the pin spanner?

Brian

To get the balance gears off I use a big pair of 90degree nose pliers, I do however own a 968 flywheel lock tool,

This is different to the 944 flywheel lock tool which is the same as the 968 Tiptronic tool.
I am sure that all you will need other than these is a good 1/4 drive torque wrench for all the M6 bolts and a 3/8 one for the rest

I once read a fellow forum member(not sure which forum) fitted a Circoli Water Pump on a 968 which was still going strong after 10000 miles. It was well under a £100 from Eurocarparts.

Unfortunately can't find it!

Touching wood here, but my car still has the water pump from when I bought it 10years/20k miles ago. And there's no record in the service history of when it was changed before that. I'll be changing the belts/rollers soon, so I'll check the bearing then. 20k is nothing on most cars, and I share the opinion that the usual tension routine makes the belt too tight when the engine expands, and that wears the pump bearing prematurely.

Same thing with mine, only had it just over 2 years & no record in service history of replacement. So, obviously one of those items to be replaced in upcoming major service as soon as I put it back on the road.

What I'm saying with the water pump is, I don't run the timing belt too tight. And if it isn't broke, I don't fix it. I've got a spare 2.7/3.0 pump that I may use on my turbo one day.

Finally managed to visit them & the pump brand is URO. It is stamped in the casting. The assistant couldn't tell me much about it, so called another guy over that explained they are made by Circoli, there was nothing else to back this up. There are no other indication where it is made, on the box or the pump.

Visually, seems reasonably made with metal or alloy impeller as I could see.

I've read good things about Circoli pumps if in fact it is. URO not so much but mostly on other parts, pumps seemed to some good some bad.

At the price, might just go ahead & try one. Also, gasket is provided with the pump.

Do you have the part number? The one I saw was 201330071

I would prefer this if in fact it does confirm to be Circoli.

Cheers

Just used the 20% off ebay code to order a Gates belt/water pump kit and tools for my daughters Fiesta Zetec S. I hadn't planned to do it myself, but local garages said they didn't need the locking tools, and wanted to bend me over for double the price on the parts  .
