Hi, I've recently bought an S2 (pictured) [img]

[/img]and am tackling a few areas needing attention.

One of these was a slight oil weep from the cam cover. As the cover itself was looking a little tired I decided to refurb it at the same time. After reading up I discovered the cam covers are made of magnesium and the general view is that painting them with rattlecans is the best option. However, I then discovered this place who can powdercoat magnesium castings: http://tpcs-magnesium-refurbs.co.uk/ .

After speaking to the chap who owns TPCS I have decided to go this route. He has already sent me a couple of pics. The first is of the cover after stripping and the second is after it has had the base chromate layer applied. Will post up some picture of the finished article if anyone is interested?

One of those while you are in there jobs, well 2. Check the chain slipper and the o-rings in the cam cover.

Hi, yes definately want to attend to all of those 'while you're there' jobs. Slipper looks fine (pictured) and I have already bought a complete set of gaskets, bolts and cup washers etc.

On that subject, I did notice that the the metal top radiator hose was corroded where it went into the bottom rubber hose. I removed it and sent it to be blasted and powdercoated. However, after blasting the chap sent me a picture showing that it was holed. I work at a classic car engineering company and could have taken it in to attempt to weld it up but I reasoned it will be tissue-thin and a potential cause of future trouble. I couldn't find a used one so ended up having to buy new from Porsche at £240 + delivery!!

Host your pictures on imagur or somewhere like that then just link them on to here,

I use amazon S3 as a location for pictures, you get 5GB space free

you copy you pics up to an S3 bucket, and then make it public, then you get a link from a tool like S3Browser

you can then post that in the normal img link form the toolbar

a few 968's from goodwood 2018

928.104.443.08 are the ones I meant (you may already have them). Last time I changed the plugs they were all surrounded by oil. Strange the seals had all failed.
