Post subject:  Springs and top mounts?

Hi, i'm changing my shocks over to a set of B6's. So I'm wondering while i'm at it should I change the springs and top mounts. My car has covered 80k miles and spent 15 years not moving a mussel. Top mounts seem to be unavailable from Porsche, if that is the case what are my options? Or should mine be serviceable for a bit longer? With the springs, i'd like to lower the car, but not the 25 - 30mm of the springs i've seen advertised. Again what do folk advise?

Thanks in advance.

If there is no particular issue with your top mounts then they are probably fine. I'm surprised that they are no longer available, if your car is post '89 then according to the parts lists I have they where used all the way through to the 968. Part number:
951 343 018 04 - suspension strut mounting

I believe the M030 option springs are approx 15mm lower
944 343 531 01 - identification 104 white / yellow (paint markings on the springs)
However, I think these were on the koni adjustable struts so might not work (different diameter) with your fixed parch struts.

Try your OPC with these part numbers

Hi Sean,

I've been talking to Edinburgh OPC parts. From what we could work out (it was that part number i'd given them) the 968 top mounts seemed to be a different construction, but from memory they were also not available. I tend to agree that mine should be ok, or at least ok for the moment. Even if the mounts were available they seemed to be about as expensive as the four shocks. It's the springs that have me vexed at the moment. The OEM springs are on back order, so I might go for these from Design 911, https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod1305 ... he-944-S2/. The price does make me slightly suspicious.

:-)
