I will check in PET2 tomorrow to see if there are still two types

I would take a guess at yes, one for the remote oil cooler cars and one for the inboard oil cooler

PM sent to the kind soul.

I believe the two still exist this is from 2010, so fairly recent.

http://944foot2thefloor.blogspot.com/20 ... v-oil.html

And if you google both part numbers both can be found for sale these days. Typically the one I may well need is $400 rather than the other which is $200.

Part number is 944 107 035 11 but I wont go getting grumpy about that yet as I don't know its the fault :D

944 107 035 11 £300.98 Inc Vat from your local OPC, this is >> MJ 1986 then its 944 107 035 02 MJ 1987 >> £350.12

but PET is completely unclear on what where and when

it shows both types for 4405, 4406 right up to 4410

Sorry love, no food this month!

Cheers for the price, I don't know if I want that to be the cure or not. Oil pump I assume is cheaper but much more work.

Heres the oil pressure on my analogue gauge which arrived today.

Not an electrical issue then.

just watched the video, i dont have sound but it seems fairly stable if the first part is tickover, the OPRV is whats stopping the pressure going over 100 PSI

the workshop manual says Approx 4 bar at 5000 RPM, not much more detail than that

so thats 58.0151 psi at 130 degrees Celsius at 5000rpm

think you got that covered

Yeah cold idle then it climbs as I rev it. Is that what you would expect to see? I used to have a needle which sat perfectly still, none of this flickering which is what im trying to cure.

Or am i just chasing my tail. I know its got good pressure, its just not stable. Happily over 4bar at 2500rpm

Good to know 100psi is the calibrated value of the OPRV, cheers

just updated my original post,

the pressure will climb with RPM till the point the valve opens to stop you blowing all the oil seals out the engine,

can you now do a video of the in car gauge so we can see the difference

Yes I appreciate the pressure rises with rpm. But at constant rpm I would expect to see constant pressure, where as in my video you can see it fluttering from 75-85psi at a steady 1000rpm. This continues up the rev range.

Here is the in car gauge while driving at 60mph in 5th around 2500rpm

Not that bad

I have seen a 968 blow the oil filter off on the short straight at brands because of a stuck OPRV, plenty or smoke and flames

Woops! Expensive way to end a day. Hopefully this loaner will give me an answer, at least I dont seem to be suffering overly high pressure.

Just need to sort my wheel alignment now as having the front end off has move slightly off center. Then it should be all good. More videos to come..........I hope

Right then, we have some answer and some questions.

So Ive fitted the OPRV which ive kindly been loaned. Here is the video of cold idle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4ig4m57hhk

Much the same sort of readings as previous with a rather fluttery needle. Never the less I let the engine warm up, it run until the fan had cut in and back out again.

This was then my needle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmJLlwy ... e=youtu.be

As you can see the flutter is gone, though it does have one or two spikes which drop a sudden 5 or 10 psi.

With this improvement I shut down and put the pressure sender back in and as i pulled the drip tray out from under the car only to find quote a bit of lovely metallic material in it, With the relatively small amount of oil which drained from oprv and sender ports. It something grinding away inside my engine and what the hell is it???

Never the less I went for a drive to see what the needle does.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYX_2Um ... e=youtu.be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6UtG2W ... e=youtu.be

Very fluffy when I first set off and then settled. Much better, still a noticeable dip when i press the pedal. Rather odd but holding good stable pressure. I also not that my hot oil pressure is lower with this OPRV. now only getting up to 5 when im over 5000rpm.

So I think it still need to come out and be torn down this winter as it hasnt given me the smoking gun I was looking for

So I have a theory. Ive done about 30 miles today and noticed much more stable oil pressure. though it does still flutter at low RPM. The big take away is the needle goes wild between gears. I think this could be a sign of excessive end float? Pressing the clutch pedal is also pushing the crank forward, enough to upset the pump drive of oil flow in the main bearings?

Thats the best I can do with out taking bit off, which aint happening!
