Fuel filter changed 3 months ago...any way to test for pump under load without driving at the same time? As said before fuel pressure at rail as per Clark's all good...but this is whilst stationary.

Just coming back to this...
Here's another vid: https://youtu.be/Cd7Tlwae0hc probably could have pushed 1st gear more than 4200..but second I got to 6200 which was 50 mph

Guess with mileage over 150k its not so bad. Is this about the same as you guys....bit better far worse?!
As an aside, can I rule out faulty reference sensors? As in if they were bad would the car behave a bit down on power?
Happy with my lot really just want to get it close to where it was back in the day.

M

Re. reference sensor,
I am having issues with my VEMS equiped S2 cab, it turnsor was faulty, when I got into the trigger log (log which captures every teeth reading on the flywheel) it seems that my sensor would get worse the faster the engine goes, I can't say how the motronic would cope with this situation but if at say 4000rpm you lose all signal then the ecu would have no idea of knowing where to fire the spark, I guess you could check this by a timing light, but this might not be a definative answer,
If this was me, I would reduce the reference gap, see if it improves, then move it out, see if it gets worse

To be honest that acceleration doesn't look bad to me...

Thanks Gryphon. This is what I have learned and maybe my driving skills need to be addressed to get it to perform. In any event I am happy with my car now, it has certainly improved and not far off most owners...maybe a bit worse better.

Thanks for all your help.

M

Just looked at the vid, looks ok to me, so what did you do to cure the "hitting wall at 4000rpm"

Believe it or not..it was the interior battery light that was never on in my ownership so changed that and voila. Guess some sort of quirky electrical gremlim. I also cleaned all earth contacts and changed the alternator brushes and it seemed to improve the car no end.

low voltage at High RPM, funny enough my reg brushes faded away two weeks ago and left me stranded,

as the voltage went down and down things started packing up, fuel gauge, then the oil pressure gauge, then the speedo, and finally the rev counter, but that could have been because the engine stopped :D at about 9v and i was still 6 miles from home.

Green Flag were great, told them on the phone the car was low and had a spoiler, they sent a lovely low flat bed for me.

2 hours the next day struggling with a £6.43 part to fix it, dont buy a genuine one (voltage Regulator) from Porsche they want £197.00 Inc Vat..............................

So I can only guess that might well have been your issue, and well done on the fix
