Hi,

I have a problem with my drivers door window not going fully up - I have looked and its the main gear cog - its missing teeth so I have ordered a full mechanism and regulator.

Now I have seen videos on how to remove the window regulator but how do you actually remove the glass first?

This is for a 91 S2 Cab.

Thanks

You don’t need to remove the glass

You just hold it up at the top by wrapping some good masking tape over the top of the door and sticking it to both sides of the glass

Ok, I will try sticking it to the quarter glass as there are no frames on a cab

I've just done this on mine... square dash, and not a cab, but hopefully similar.

As Waylander says, you don't need to actually remove the glass. I held it up with a bit of wood propped inside the door on the side impact beam.

The regulator unbolts from the inner door and slides backwards to free it from the runners. Pulls out through the hole top back of the door with a bit of wiggling.

If you do want to remove the glass - I did to clean it properly around the seals, it took a lot of scrubbing - then after removing the regulator, drop the front of the glass to free it from the runners, and keep rotating it to not quite 90°. There is a little wider gap at the top back of the door that the rail on the base of the glass will pass through, and you can just lift it out. With the full framed door this is a bit awkward to do, with a cab it should be far easier :)

be very careful of the door seals around the window slot, they are NLA

I forgot it was a cab, pop down to B&Q and buy a couple of rubber door wedges to jam the glass
