Its probably already been mentioned(or you already know this) but they have speed related power steering. It should be nice and light at low speed and firm up to give good feedback and handling at speed.

It could well be down to wheel choice. When i bought my car it had nasty heavy replica cup 3's on and the steering was nasty as hell and simply felt wrong. Light with no feeling at low speed and even lighter with even less feel at higher speeds :x

I have just fitted some forged 16" teledials, the correct wheels that my car left the factory with, and the drive has been totally transformed!! I simply cant believe the amount of feedback im now getting through the steering wheel. Its nice and light around town and it firms up beautifully at speed and gives me so much more feedback and confidence to chuck it into the bends etc.

The heavier wheels mess up the geometry of these cars and im sure, must play havoc with the speed sensitive power steering.

These cars are very sensitive to even slightly uneven tyre pressures, so heavy wheels will totally mess up the geometry of the set up these cars leave the factory with.

The S2 and Turbo was well known to go light at speed and be prone to sidewinds something to do with the improved aerodynamics and my S2 certainly goes light at higher speeds (90+) closed roads obviously. Quite heavy at parking speeds but I think that is to be expected anything above that it feels quite normal not as light a a modern car but nicely weighted, my 924S is much lighter at parking speeds (smaller wheels and tyres) and about the same above that but more stable at higher speeds. I think from looking at your picture the attitude of the car looks about right what tyre profiles are you running front to back I think it is normal to run higher profiles at the front than the back but not by much usually 5%. I run 225/45/17 fronts and 255/40/17 rears with 36psi all round on Toyo T1Rs.

The fronts are Pirelli P Zero 205/55/ZR 16 at 30psi, rears P Zeros 225/40/ZR 16 at 36psi.

Question: would a splitter make any difference to the steering at speed, its been on my wish list but if it will help then it may be easier to get the cost pass the boss :D

Going back to my original comment I think normally the aspect ratio difference front to rear is only 5% whereas you have 15%. Maybe this is what is causing your car to sit slightly higher at the front. You could always try borrowing a set for the front with a lower difference in ratio.

David, good point, normal rear profile is 50%, this will screw the speedo readings & gearing up as well.

Not sure a splitter will make a significant differences. Aerodynamically I suspect you'd have to be at speeds well in excess of the UK limit to make a noticeable difference. I do have one here for mine & they do look very pretty though

The front tyres have loads of tread still on them (probably because they don't touch the road  ) but the rears need replacing! can I change the rear to balance out the front or is it new all round :(

You could change the rears for 50% profiles then you would at least come in line with what is standard I believe 55% front 50% rear.

Correct, standard is 205/55 16 F & 225/50 16 R, Turbo's were 20mm wider F & R but on mine it screwed the steering.
