i was wondering if anyone has the thickness of the cylinder liner on a S2 model.
I am stroking my 2.5 'S' 16v and hoping to put 102mm oversize pistons in.
I am interested if I can safely bore it out accordingly, and how much difference in thickness between a stock 'S' and 'S2' models.
I know stock pistons for S2 are approx. 104mm.

has anyone out there bored out a 2.5 block and by how much safely? - I am aware of all the issues with alusil blocks.

If you aren't fitting liners who is going to machine the cylinders for you?

i am hoping to use automotive services in Northampton to do block, crank and flywheel work.
anyone know about re-profiling cams for additional lift?

I have an S block that I removed last year due to scoring in one bore and was told by a couple of experts in the business that it'd wouldn't be viable to bore out so I got another good block and fitted that. If lining I suppose that is a different story.

I do currently have an S2 engine that I'm stripping but I haven't yet got the head off, if you haven't got the thickness by the time I remove the head I'll let you know.

No disrespect to them, but I'd make sure they've done plenty of successful Alusil machining and finishing...

You can rebore Alusil but I've only heard of a couple of places that know how to do it properly.

I did speak to Baz at Hartech and my Indy but both said it's not worth the hassle, when boring it's supposed to dislodge (or expose, can't remember exactly) some of the silicone particles and limit the life of the bore.

At the time Baz did recommend Crewe Engines as someone that could potentially do it successfully, something to do with chemical stripping, I think to expose the silicone again, maybe after being bored out?

Serdi and Capricorn are the only companies I've heard of that know what they're doing with Alusil, and I think you'll wait weeks and months to get a workshop slot with them.
