My 944S (1988) has just gone through the MOT OK but one of the advisories was ' rear fuel pipes rusty'. Got the back of the car up and it looks like the pipes into the fuel filter and out of it need replacing. The pipe from the fuel pump to the filter was easy to find and I've got a new fuel filter as well. However, the pipe from the filter to the solid pipe that runs to the front is proving difficult to source new. Don't really want to buy a used one on ebay. Anyone got any ideas who might have a new one of these or who could make one up for me? Thanks |

You might want to get a closer look at the solid where it goes over the top of the suspension beam, that is the most common place for them to corrode and fail. |

As for your original question, try your nearest OPC, failing that if you can get the hose off safely you can take it to Pirtek or similar and they can replicate it. |

Thanks,there is a Pirtek branch in Reading so will call in and see what they have. Any idea what psi those pipes normally run at ,I think it's somewhere around 30 but I can't remember where I got that from. |

you need to buy new not second hand, as the old pipes are not E5 or E10 fuel compatable the pipe you want is i believe 951 356 047 03 @ £ 49 from you local porsche center |

Most of the fuel lines can be got from OPC but I found that hard lines could be replaced with kunifer pipe of 8mm or 10mm diameter for massively cheaper (the part I needed wasn't available at the time) You then only need the fittings for each end and to get them flared. I found that Pirtek weren't able/interested in doing fuel pipes locally to me |

My garage replaced the entire length of the hard lines with new kunifer ones they made up. They re-used the fittings from the old lines. The rear axle needs dropping to do the job though - which adds to the cost, and throws up the usual "while you're in there" jobs to make it even more expensive. I had mine done while the clutch was being changed, and decided to get the rear axle re-bushed. |
