Post subject:  1988 cooling Fan Relay mod save ££££

I have an 88 944, has a single cooling fan, which runs ar 2 speeds, engine hot ign on runs fast, ign off engine hot runs slow, oh and its fitted with a 3.5L V8 now.

The relay packed up, and I wasnt about to spend the ££££ on a replacement, thinking a simple relay could be used to create a conventional temperature controlled fan.

Came up with the attached, which may be of use to others, results in a fan which only runs fast, when the ignition is on, and the engine excedes 92 degrees, goes off again at 80 degrees as per the stock 944 2 wire sensor.

The added benefit, in my view, the resistor packs are no longer in circuit, and no mods are needed to the relay board, just use male 6.3 mm and 3.2mm blade connectors into the fuse board.
