My clutch pedal seems too high, at rest it is slightly above the brake pedal, but the pad is at a different angle, suggesting is should be below the level of the brake pedal.

The helper spring is ok, but there is a definate over the centre feel to the clutch travel, as the helper compresses slightly then expands with pedal travel.

Can anyone tell me where the return stop is for the pedal? Or does the pushrod into the master cylinder govern the pedal rest height?

Cheers.

Pete.

the clutch pedal on my S2 sounds similar, I just assumed the S2 set up was different - should the S2 clutch pedal be the same as the 2.5 944??
thanks

If you look up with a flashlight into the footwell you'll see a stop which holds the position when depressed, it's usually
a rubber piece which can squash over time and use and will allow the pedal rest height to be a bit higher than it usually sits.

The Spring is designed to act as some resistance when releasing the pedal but sometimes as you depress it it can feel
like it resisting then lets go a bit which can feel a bit odd,.

My 1987 924S (Narrow 944!) has exactly the same and I'm looking to lower the pedal because it requires a substantial
lift of the left leg and effort to depress it and I'm racing this car so I don;t want to waste any extra action and energy
in a 2 hour race!

I'm thinking of fitting a longer stop (Bolt & Nut) which will allow the pedal to rest in a lower position.

R

Think the correct measurement is 109mm from bulk head to clevis pin

Thanks, I found the stop, looks to have a 2+ mm indentation in the rubber, which makes the pedal about 8 - 10 mm high, and exaggerates the over centre feeling on the assistor spring.

Think Im going to glue a hard rubber disk onto the stop to bring the bulkhead to pivot distance to 109 mm, and re adjust the rod for the free play.

They seem small amounts, but the lever principle increases the effect at your foot.
