My 944S seems to have died. Here's the story, been off the road for a couple of months whilst I carried out some repairs to the n/s floor/inner sill.
Before doing any work I disconnected the battery and removed the ECU,ECU bagged up and put in garage to keep it out of harms way.
Yesterday work finished to point where it can go back on road so connected battery ,put ECU back in and turned on ignition, all the dash lights came on and the windows and lights all worked.
As it was late I didn't start the engine thinking I will do that in the morning and give it a run.
Went to start it this morning and ...nothing,battery totally drained flat.
I know I did leave any lights on or the doors open.
Charged up the spare battery and tried it.Dash lights came on but nothing happened when I turned the key.Turned it of,turn it on again and no dash lights this time and
nothing from the starter.
Went back to the battery and was aware of the fan/s going and a buzzing noise coming from the fuse box, disconnected the battery quickly!
If you are still with me thank you for your patience.
How can the fan/s be going when the engine is stone cold and what's buzzing in the fuse box ?
The first thing that sprung to mind was the DME relay but how would taking the ECU out ( when the battery is disconnected) affect the DME relay and set the fan/s off ?
Any ideas anyone.
I have no idea where to start looking as the electrics are just not my thing.
The car was running perfectly before I took it off the road and has never had any electrical problems during my ownership which always made me feel rather smug, looks like I'm going to pay for that now.
So,if anyone has any ideas as to where I can start looking to bring life back to my car I would be eternally grateful.
Thanks

I've had exactly this on my 968 with the dme relay buzzing even with the ignition switched off. I traced it to an issue under the fuse box which in short was resolved by lifting the fuse box up...

Link to the thread on the 968 forum is at http://www.porsche968uk.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=10537&start=3990 starting at the bottom of page 267...

Drop me a pm if needed.... Good luck!

well, tried it again this morning and started first go!
Only problem is the cooling fan which runs the moment the battery is connected.
I will post that separately .
Don't you just love these old cars.
