Due to age or maybe previous repairs, the sill trims attachments on my S2 are not recognizable; mostly not present. Does anyone know of any actual link to a proper explanation of putting them in place as I can't find anything detailed online!?

Parts catalog isn't much help either. I have a good idea of the parts needed but exactly where & how :?

They are primarily held on with plastic nuts, you should have metal threads poking down off the underside of the car for them to bolt to, are you saying yours have rusted away ?

Yes, most of them have perished. But, that accounts for underside mostly; 5, which I can establish with the trim & the one or two threads left. There are others at the rear of the sill trim & somewhere under the front fender!?

If anyone has close up pictures?

The would have been on the bottom of the front wings. These may have perished also or if the bottom of your front wings have had rust repairs whoever done it my have neglected to replace them.

Yes, exactly. That is why I need the details as I have the wings off the car & would like to do what is necessary so to attach the trim back on.

I made my own, I offered the wing back up to the car and screwed the wing sill trim onto the wheel arch liner and marked out where the fixing tangs needed to be welded on to the bottom of the wing.

I had to reposition the rear one.

Cheers for that. Actually thinking of doing our own solution too but would still like to see original fitting for guideline. I kind of get the feeling(from what I read), these were actually add ons to the bodywork at the factory for the turbo/S2 & not a production process on the body!?

Anyhow, it would be helpful if someone could show the OE fittings/attachments. If, not will fabricate a solution.

Also, it would be quite an assistance if anyone can show some close up pics of the sill trims in place. I bought mine used & when offered to the sills, I seem to have a slight gap. So would like to compare.

Look at these for original fittings. The larger fixing point shown on the bottom on these wings on my (passenger side at least) is welded to the car.

The trims are not a great fit on to the bottom of the wings unfortunately I don't have a close up picture of them fitted.

That is very helpful, thanks.

At least it gives me a place to start.

Cheers mate. I'm getting a better understanding what to do.

All I need are some more pics of the rear fittings close to the rear wheel arch.

Hi. I expect this won't be the same for you, but just one to watch for that happened to me. When I got my car there was a big gap between the trim and the body at the rear wheel arch / sill join. The trim had been hacked so I got a secondhand one, but it wouldn't fit. Turned out a repair to that area of the car was not the right profile. It looked ok to the naked eye but was a different shape to the trim. Ended up getting it all redone (and a respray).

Unfortunately I don't have photos of the repaired fixings.

^^^I had the same problem^^^

My rear ones have rusted away, when I did the passenger sill I welded smoothing similar to this to the rear of the sill, I added a sleeve to extend it out so the bolt for the trim to have something to tighten against. I need to secure the drivers side but as its just the fixing that's gone and not the metalwork I intend to clean the area up, treat it and protect it and then stick the fitting in place with some tiger seal.

Took mine off and put them in storage - they are just a trap for crap and water to aid corrosion !

Absolutely true. I've read the worst cars to corrode/deteriorate out of the 944 range are the S2/Turbo which, to my knowledge, have the sill/fender trims.
