Thought you chaps might like an update:
Following a visit from Waylader today, the boot is now open and I have access to the battery :bounce:
I wish I thought to film Martin accessing the boot via the passenger side of the car, struggling to unhook the boot cover from the catches, lose one of his shoes as he wriggled further into the boot before undoing the carpet and getting access to the lock cable and releasing the latch. He then decided that with boot open, it would be easier to exit the car that way not realising that the floor iwas further down than it appeared and almost did himself a mischief as he exited the car
After all that effort, it was rather disappointing although not unexpected, for the battery to show bugger all signs of life once hooked up to the battery tender/ charger. I suspect a new battery may well be on the imminent purchase list.

On a more positive note, I now have a bonnet that stays up as the replacement bonnet struts were fitted once Martin had modified the pin adaptors.

A huge thank you to Martin for giving up his time to help me out- I definitely owe you one.

Ah the reason for the ungainly exit from the boot was partly due to the smashed bits from the aftermath of a bike accident 20 years ago starting to become less flexible

But glad I could help out
