I would refrain from running and driving until the belts are done, you don't want a belt to bust after all your efforts

Good advise and I'll now change them. I checked them before I ran it and they looked ok without any cracking. I just wanted it running first, I did notice a whine from the cam belt area so belts and pulleys for sure.

I've just about got my car ready for MOT, got the indicators and washers working today and just waiting for a set of number plates to arrive. I still have a couple of electrical faults though, heater fan isn't working, it has power at the fuse but nothing at the motor or the switch! Also the electric window fuse blows instantly when replaced. I'm not great with electrics so any advice welcome.

Pretty much sorted now, took the fuse box out and completely stripped it down, there were lots of dirty/corroded terminals with signs of water ingress, not a nice job to do and I wouldn't like to do it again, easy potential to destroy the fuse box if you mess it up. Anyway everything now works except the heater blower, it works with a direct feed but the switch isn't getting power at all, I suspect a broken wire somewhere so once I get myself a wiring diagram I'll try sorting it, time to book an mot!!

Spent the day polishing the car, its showed up lots of stone chips and a few tiny dings but overall it's come up really well, just hoovered and wiped down the interior but it more than presentable so just the wheels to tidy up now, I'll use paint stripper to get the lacquer off the rims so I can polish them for now, eventually they'll be diamond cut.

Nice steady progress happening here! Good to see :D :D

I have not been able to turn a spanner on my 924S all last year, so feeling jealous

Hope the MOT goes well.

Another 944 back on the roads, mot passed today with a couple of advisories, slightly corroded brake pipes and fuel cap seal slightly cracking. Added to the to-do list.
