Hi all,

I replaced the rear wheel bearings when I got my 944, about 2k miles ago. The wheels were wobble-free with the new bearings, but now both sides have considerable play again!

I didn't buy particularly high quality bearings - ordered two Borg & Beck kits, received one Borg & Beck, one First Line and an assurance that as they're the same company they're identical... I was annoyed but had just got the car and wanted all four wheels on it, so on they went. I may also have messed up fitting them, although everything was clean, pretty sure I seated them properly and greased them properly....

As there was no play in the wheels directly after fitting the new bearings I suspect damage to the rear hubs and stub axles shouldn't be the issue?

Now I have two more wheel bearings to do... so any suggestions on which to purchase or where I may have gone wrong the first time would be appreciated! I don't want to be doing this job too often, I've only just put new stretch bolts on the rear CVs :(

Thanks!
