Hi guys , I have a bit of an issue that maybe someone on here could help me with..
So at the moment I am about to pull the trigger on a low mileage 1986 944 Turbo , It was sold to Ireland from the UK in 2008 and that owner subsequently sold it in Ireland last year..
I have been to see the car a couple of times and my mechanic has also come to view it, we have not underestimated the amount of work required to get it tip top, but,There is little or no service history with it.:(.
What I do have are a couple of MOT certs and sorn applications corralating with the correct mileage, and a couple of previous owner names in the UK.
The car once resided in Scotland and was sold to Coventry, I have spoken to both Glasgow and Solihull Porsche centres but they have no listing/records of the car.
obviously I could purchase the car have a massive job done on it ,shell out a fortune ,but I fear it would then only be of value to me ,I already have an S2 that keeps me poor!
SO ....im just putting it out there if anyone can help me find some history or back story........
Car is GAURDS RED 1986 944 TURBO
Former reg.no. JIL 9144
VIN NO. WPOZZZ95ZGN102095
ENGINE NO. 45G08193
I have done a full motor check on the car ,it appears to come back clean ,,,never stolen, no outstanding finance, never written off, never auctioned...1st date of usage (approx) 31/12/86..
If anyone out there has any links or inklings they may know the car please get in touch on here or on FB .
Thank you to Sean for allowing me to post the details on here, and sorry its a little long winded, and with very little information (I do have 3 previous owner names but wont put them on here).
Kind regards ,Happy PORKING , Ciaran Flanagan Dublin Ireland.

Ciaran, having bought a 944 from Scotland I would be very wary of rust. That area gets appreciably colder winters than further south which means more salt on the road plus a sea borne level of salt in the wind.
Personally I would never buy another scottish car.

PS Do we know each other, are you ex-Intel?

Bit harsh Jim!! Although I did get mine from Weymouth many years ago but 10 years up in this frozen waste land haven't yet caused it to morph in to a pile of dust!! :)

I'd be very wary of buying a car from the south east, bought a couple and they've all been botched by dodgy garages and put through dodgy MOTs - oh sorry was that too much a sweeping generalisation.....................

If it has been in Coventry then you could try Shirleys in Meriden and/or autobahn (PCT as they now are). They may have records of it.

If you go on the BMW5 forum, you'd never buy a car from High Wycombe either!

On a serious note, if you don't find the information you seek for that car my turbo is still up for sale and has a hole bundle of history to back it up. Its not exactly low milage at 157,000 but given that it is 29yrs old that's less than 5.5k a year. It's not red.....but it is a head turner.
