Am I correct in thinking that any all Oval dash 944's use the same wiper motor as it appears mine is on the way out. Ive lost intermittent and slow speed wipe, although moderate and fast both still ok

That would be correct, all 1985.5 models have the same wiper motor. However you may be able to open it up and clean the contacts inside to prolong the life of the motor for a little while longer.

Hi there,

Did you sort this out ?

I have the same problem on my 84 car, however being a newbee I bought an oval dash motor and linkage, which naturally has never been fitted, as my older car has a different set-up, d'oh, didn't quite understand the differences at that time.

Would be good to hear if you sorted it out.

If not sorted and you require a replacement motor, I have one that may be of use...

All the best

Are you certain that it is the motor assembly and not the switch? This applies to both of you, but Id always suspect the switch on a series one car or a 924.

I haven't tried the switch yet, as soon as I can I'll check that out.

I tend to think mine is due to the motor as it drags even at high speed, about two thirds through the sweeping motion. As a further check I lifted both wipers off the window to the upright position so there was no friction, and watched the motion, it still appears to slow up and drag on the hi setting part wat through.

So I was thinking it's either the motor, linkage, or both.... :( just means it tends not to get rolled out the garage on wet days.

Not sorted mine out yet as have not found the time to disassemble the wiper linkage to get at the motor. Wipers work fine on normal and fast speed with no sign of slow movement or dragging, so will look at the switch first (time allowing)
