Hi everyone
The remote spectacularly and very publicly failed on my 1992 944 S2 the other evening. Very embarrassing and eventually only silenced after towing it home. One of the two key fob remotes had failed and replacing its battery made no difference. That leaves me with just one, which is a safety margin with this old kit which makes me very uneasy.
Being a late model S2 it is very likely that the alarm fitted is a factory one and pretty sophisticated as with the 968... It's integrated with the central locking and has a sensor bypass switch on the consol for when the sunroof is open etc. So I think that is the case. However the two key fobs I got with the car are third party ones - a GT Getronic 82N and a GT Getronic GT82TXC. Research tells me that they were used by Ford, Suzuki etc at the time so I assume that is what Porsche did as well.
What I need is the failed fob resurrecting if possible, which I guess means reprogramming and pairing it, or another fob supplying which obviously will need pairing with the cars alarm system. This might be simple stuff to a half decent auto electrician or locksmith but its black magic to me. Does anyone know of anyone in the Oban area who is good at this or indeed if I have to travel then Glasgow or elsewhere in Scotland?
Cheers
