So the storey goes out for a bit of a run the other day.
About twenty miles in the car just dies and will not restart after 20min or so the old girl fires back in to life ,back on the road for a couple of miles and the same thing happens again. Managed to get the car home .Next day got a DME relay ( fuel pump relay ) run the car for about 15min or the driveway then it died swapped the two relays but the car would not start.
Any thoughts to the next step I should take.
Thanks Stuart

Sounds like a similar problem I had a few years back. The engine would run for about 10 mins or so and then die. But after a few minutes it would start again no problem and run for 10 mins again. After checking all of the usual items such as DME etc. It turned out to be the fuel pump. Hope this helps.

When it does it next time check for a spark and fuel. If the fuel proves to be tricky you can always try to see if Easy Start to get it to go. Then you will be in a better position to pursue what the cause is. I've had rotor arms break down on me before.

I had this also, would start fine cold and then after driving for 20 or so minutes would randomly die, it would splutter and then would not restart for a good 20 mins or so. After replacing many parts it turned out to be the reference sensors... They are cheap and easy to replace and can cause all kinds of running problems...not had a problem since ... touch wood..

Ok a bit of an up date turns out I fixed my car five days ago just did not know I had.
Some people will know this but just in case you don't .The DME or ECU once told there is a problem by the relay shuts down for between 5 and 30mins before resetting. So if you jump out the car and swap the relay with a good one and the DME has not reset it will not start. Well I think that's how it works I am sure someone will let me know if I got it completely wrong .But anyway the car is now working again....
