Ok, I've read a LOT of threads and am still confused. Most seem to talk about front shocks, but I need a rear one (well a pair as I wouldn't want to just fit one!) for MOT.

I believe need 951 333 032 07.

Frazerpart seem to be out of stock, and from what I gather, have been out of stock for a while.
Design911 list a Koni adjustable, a Bilstein B6 and M030 ones, but no standard one.

Some threads on here from mid-last year suggested that Sachs were no longer making these, is after market the only way forward?

What would fitting B6 on the rear be like with stock fronts? (doesn't seem like an ideal situation to me..)

I'm not really looking to invest in the car as it'll be up for sale once MOTd, so I'm not interested in spending £500+ for a full car set!

Any advice welcome!

I did find those after posting. I guess if the part is becoming rare, then the 35-40% hike in price compared to other places is expected..

I guess perhaps the question on Bilstein B6 rear + standard fronts comes in here since they would cost virtually the same!

This is a direct quote from OPC Tewkesbury, 9th March 2016, referring to my 1990 944S2 :

"Afternoon Mr Briggs

I have just had a reply from Porsche with regards to the rear shock absorbers. And they have now been discontinued so we are unable to get them anymore.

I am not sure what you want to do now.

If look forward to hearing from you.

Sorry for the hassle.

Graham"

The reason why there is so much talk about the fronts is that the options are to either fit like for like replacements that were last manufactured in 2003 or fit after market inserts, which require the original struts to be adapted. The reason that rears aren't discussed in so much details is that the aftermarket ones are a straight swap, with no adaptation required.

Afraid I don't know how good an idea it would be to mix after market rears with your existing original fronts.

Cheers,
Bryan

I got these as a stop gap while I work out a better option, no complaints, they do what it says on the packaging!!!

Sachs now make a one shock fits all i.e. the rear shocks now supplied are the upgraded ones but they will bolt to anything from a 924 to an S2

Part: Sachs 105 754

http://www.vehiclepartsdatabase.com/veh ... chs/105754

I managed to pick up a brand new pair for about £65 by searching for 924 shocks rather than 944 ones (same shock huge price difference)
