Anyhow, just an update for anyone who might be in the same situation at some point...put everything back together with same gasket & it's just like it was never taken off in the first place

Has anyone tried to remove the intake manifold & managed not to replace the gasket? I need to take out the brake booster but just won't clear the manifold by a few centimeters. So, thinking of just detaching the inlet manifold with everything that can possibly stay attached to it just to make enough room to take out the booster. Then, if the gasket remains mostly intact, apply some instant gasket before refitting. Has anyone done something similar? |

I would suggest just replacing the gaskets with new, they don't cost much. Better than gumming up old ones. |

Yes, I would prefer this. But, I'm sure I won't find one available here. Also not sure if I will have enough clearance to actually clean the area to prepare the new, as I don't intend to disassemble the complete manifold & all that is attached. |

Just done this on an S2, remove fuel rail, throttle cable and AFM. Unbolt manifold and lift away then disconect vac lines and water line to back of block. You can leave all the rest on manifold. Blank off ports with duct tape and put a bolt in the dip stick hole to keep the rubbish out If it's still got Oetiker clamps on the vac lines swear a bit cos they are a pain to remove. Be very careful with the throttle body vac elbows they are very brittle and will break easily. |

No, I just removed what was absolutely necessary, so fuel rail, throttle cable etc stayed on...then took out all bolts attached to intake & moved the intake a few centimeters just enough to remove the brake booster. Gasket stayed clean in one piece too. So, most probably going to reuse & see how it goes. Cheers. |
