I know, I nearly fell off my high horse.

A first for me.

Last of the external jobs was to replace the rear decal. It was fairly nice this afternoon so thought I would tackle it. Been putting it off for ages after previous attempts at graphics.

I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. I think Porsche should have done them in more colours as the red really stands out on the black.

The Decal was from Roy and whilst I won't say it was easy, it was fairly straightforward. I did order 2 and the first attempt taught me what I needed to know to get the second one right.

Awesome look! Could you please share a close up picture of a wheel to understand exactly where did you paint it black and where did you left it silver? Which paint did you use?

Since you were interested in exhaust note here you can find what I did on my S2 Cab:

Thanks, appreciate the compliment.

The wheels were powder coated gloss black and then the rims were diamond cut. They were in an awful state, so quite amazed how they turned out.

Have just left for the week on business, but back the weekend and will post some close-ups then.

Thanks for the tip regarding the exhaust. There is a guy down in Brighton who is a great exhaust fabricator. I'll show him and see what he can do.

Thanks Sean, you're idea regards the wheels and thanks for putting me in touch with Roy.

I like the decal, but in no rush to try applying anymore.

Thanks, I can see this is going to be fun over winter. Might pick up some rubbish wheels for winter to save them.

Next job is leather seats. Gave them a good clean and oh dear. Looks like I need the services of another professional. Next week i will stop by a Trimmer. The one I used to know has retired now.

Restoration is a funny old game.

The Trimmer managed to find a bit of that strange grey (purple hue almost, but not quite) leather to fix the hole in the passenger bolster.

However, he also tried to stitch up the lose stitching on the drivers seat. All went well except when he tested the seat and the side panel was so dry the leather let go. Not on the perforated centre, but on the solid side panel. Now he’s got to try and find some more.

It’s a black car, why would anyone order such a horrible grey interior?

May be one day a complete interior in any other colour will become available.

Otherwise, car has performed brilliantly over winter. The heater really does make top down motoring possible all year round.

Very nice work Andy,,,
wheels look great as does the car,,,,
i also used my s2 all over december and xmas/new year and she never missed a beat apart from a very elderly neighbour
taking out my pass fog light and glass only damaged  [ but hopefully i sourced a replacement],,,
After my wife burnt the clutch out or whatever on our R32 mk5 a week or so before xmas,,,,
Our s2 driving so well and the brand new rainsports3 were so good in the wet weather,,lets you push it and
makes the big service [cambelt, chain,,water pump,,etc, etc] much more easier to accept another big bill after a £1600 bill for
a new clutch,,dmf,,2 new tyres,, and a mot just a week into the new year for the r32,,,,
best of luck with your current and future work,,,,,jasonp

Thanks Jason,

Yes, a good set of tyres on these cars does go a long way in winter conditions. Sorry to hear about the fog light, I hear they’re expensive. Are they paying, or was it the usual case of nobody saw nothing.

I’m currently using up the last of the clutch before summer and then will bite the bullet for a replacement. Might try and find someone who refurbishes gearboxes as well because mine is so slow to warm up.

Had the car a year now and it’s still putting a smile on my face and a hole in my bank account.

Cheers Andy,,,
the fog light already had a crack in and the very old neighbour was gutted but having lost his wife earlier in the year and with it so near to xmas i wouldnt take it any further [trying to explain to the old fella,, how a small piece of glass equates to over £200 was something i couldnt do],,,,,,
Fog light unit is around £220 lol and mine is perfect apart from the glass,,,,,hopefully should find out this week if i managed to source one,,,,,,
Onwards and upwards mate,,,,,,jasonp
