I've just listed my 944 Turbo S on eBay on a 10 day auction if anyone is looking for a fast, reliable, solid 944

So 3 days gone and 7 to go with 3500+ page views and 277 watchers so far.

Currently the car is at £8,600 (reserve not met) and I have had about 10 phone calls and a similar amount of eBay messages asking for info or what the reserve price is

Still no one has been to view the car, but maybe this weekend I will get a visit or two, but as I am not exactly in the middle of England it makes it a bit more difficult and some people are not prepared to travel to view cars :?

The advert explains everything I hope but if anyone has any questions then please get in touch and I will assist as much as possible. Someone is going to get a great car (presuming it hits reserve  )

Dave's M758 car isn't Silberrose / Rose Silver.

His is one of the 635 (or however many exactly were sold) that were built afterwards that were in sold in different colours with a choice of interior colours

Agree totally.

£8-9,000 944 Turbo's seem to be moving that quite often have a history of severe corrosion, multiple MOT failures, very high mileage and a lack of recent history and buyers seem happy to take a gamble on these cars without realising the implications of what they cost to put right. I'm not saying mine is the perfect 944, but the sills and bodywork are solid and the mechanicals are all in full working order, along with an interior that needs nothing done to it.

The fact it is a Turbo S car should make a difference with the M030, CS wheels etc. but this isn't always the case. Mileage is over 100k but is only an average of under 4,000 miles a year so not excessive, but the car isn't there to be put into storage as an ornament as it is modified and built to be driven as was proven in Germany 2 weeks ago, covering 1300+ miles in a week.

I've had 2 offers around £12k which were not even considered and I would rather keep hold of it at that price even if it sat at the back of the garage.

I was referring to the linked site. I may have misread through, as I am tired, but it appears to suggest that all UK cars were Rose Silver, hence my comment.

I'll let you off Simon as you are tired

It does say that the initial 1000 were Silver Rose then this below

Following the initial run of Silver Rose cars customers were offered the choice of interior and exterior colours for their Turbo S. These 944 Turbo S cars maintained all of the performance characteristics of the earlier car and the M758 Option code was continued onto the 635 cars that were subsequently sold.

When the last owner had it up for sale and was gradually dropping the price I was tempted to buy it and build a big engine for it. Around the same time I heard of another one that the owner got offered £3k for from a Midlands specialist, I think the owner took that one back to NZ in the end.

What was the colour of the second car? I wonder if I owned it...

I never saw the car but I think it was silver. The owner was planning a 3.0 for it and had bought a 2.7 engine from a well known breaker for £550. He found out he was quite ill and went back to NZ, taking the car with him AFAIK. I found all this out when I bought the 2.7 engine.

Martin - great advert - car looks brilliant. I've been watching the auction with interest. Shame there is no px offered (for a 968!).

(Don't want to spam your thread - the other car was also silver with burgundy pinstripe - I tried to see it whilst I was in NI but it was already booked to leave Derry for NZ. Was £4500 but needed belts and a seat repair).

Sounds familiar. I think the owner said he'd had the bodywork sorted out. £4k might have bought it but understandably the guy had bigger things to think about...
