I’m a very happy man this afternoon. Picked my Turbo up from Motortune in Shotts over lunch. Twenty minute drive back to work, and I grinned all the way.

Just a few weeks without my 944 and I’d forgotten how sublime it is to drive—it’s a totally different feel to my old Lux (that I’ve been pottering around in while the Turbo was away).

Thanks to the engine being hydrauliced by the Scottish weather, the car’s had new plugs, a new air filter, new starter motor and new air flow meter. Feels quite a lot smoother than it did before the incident, too. Could that be a sign that my old AFM wasn’t up to scratch in the first place?

Glad it's back Tony. Yes AFMs decay very slowly over time & by fitting a new one can make a huge change in driveability at mid range speeds & cruise.

Here’s a funny thing: The insurers made me pay for the spark plugs, as a consumable item isn’t covered. Fair enough, but they paid out for the air filter? Not that I’m complaining, but I would have thought that was a consumable too.

Nice one Tony :)

You were extremely lucky not have had major damage and it's really good to hear the car is even better than before.

From now on, when the weather’s that bad, we take the Mini. Even though it slides about more than the Porsches.
