Post subject:  Lowe idle air control valve
Hi all, I need a new iac, so had a look round and they generally seem to be pretty expensive. Then I found a Lowe autobil one on Amazon for £39. It looks right and has the right part number but seems too cheap. From what I can see the company is German and does these sort of parts. Has anyone else any experience on this companys parts.thanks

It must be worth a go at that price, they don't seem an overly complicated item to replicate 8)

Ok Guys,

so what are the symptoms of needing a replacement ICV (I guess the clue is in the name).

My car had the AFM swapped the other day to cure a rich mixture issue and has been fine for around 100 miles. Then I noticed the idle had gone up to 1100-1200 rpm rather than the 900 its always been.

After getting home I left it for a while and restarted, and now the idle is fluctuating between 900 and 500 RPM.

Its almost like the idle slows down to 500 and then something realises its about to stall and adds fuel - it cycles like this about every 4-5 secs or so.

Similar issues to me, it could also be a hole in the vacuum hoses connected to it so certainly worth checking those too.

Hi, when my iac valve went it kept getting stuck so would tick over very low until the car warmed up. It will also be worthwhile replacing all the large vacuum pipes whilst you've got the manifold off. I found mine to be absolute toast.

I guess the hoses aren't all that expensive?

I wish that were true but not, unfortunately they're quite specific, different size ends, routing etc. It's one one of those while you're there jobs.

Fitted a Lowe Idle control valve today and had a hunting idle between 1k and 2k, took it off and refitted the original and back to the normal slightly low idle so clearly my ICV is faulty. I hope that was just a one off.

Try cleaning the ISV, the 993 one is very prone to sticking, an overnight soak in thinners but keep the electrics out and the a good blast with brake cleaner. 944 online do a full replacement vac line kit and it works out quite resonable from the States. Turns out he's a distant relative. You could use silicone rubber pipes instead in any colour you fancy. My ISV on the 944 stuck completely on the replacement engine and it would not idle at all so I swapped it for the one on the old motor. If it's got a bad vac leak it will not idle. Try adjusting the TPS as well if it's hunting at idle. Fuel pressure damper may have a leaky diaphragm easy enough to test. It's a pain to get the ISV out on an S2 but you can do it with the manifold still on.

Quick heads up for anyone considering fitting a lowe idle control valve. They are terrible quality and it looks like amazon are supplying 2nd hand parts as new too. Don't waste your time as the quality has clearly reduced in the last year.
