Engine is turning over but won't fire as the metering head is seized.

If anyone has one (pre '79) lying around please let me know

Hey Paul. Brave effort. You might want to contact Chris (blackadder30) on here - he has a 924 in Rothmans rally get-up. Nice complement to the Martini :)
Tim.

If I ever get this car sorted it would be nice to get the two together and take some pics :D

Woes continue :( The donor engine was fitted and started up only to find it is piddling out oil from the rear of the head gasket.

Head now removed to be sent for skimming. Not sure this car wants to go back on the road -it's certainly putting up a struggle

And more woes - Head failed crack test (scrap) so now looking to mate the original head with the donor block in order to move forward

Making progress Pal, looking forward to seeing it. Silverstone Classic would be good, with 964 and Nicks striped 997TT. :thumbright:

The Martini only ever came with a drivers door mirror, no passenger side one was ever fitted. I made the mistake of fitting one to mine thinking it might be useful in Motorway traffic, but that style is useless giving very little useful vision!

Seems to be coming along nicely.

Thought it was time for an update.

The donor block sourced via the 924 club proved more trouble than it was worth so decided to rebuild the original.

There has been a long delay as main bearings were simply not available. Big ends, piston rings, gaskets all easily obtained but haven't been able to give the engineering company the go ahead until main bearings finally sourced via Mittelmotor.

They are .25mm oversize (the only ones available) so the main journals will be machined to suit, big ends will remain standard. The cylinders are to be bored out to accept liners so the original pistons can be re-fitted. Hopefully this will all be completed over the next few weeks.

The suspension, fuel system, braking system have all be completely renewed and the car has been registered as a historic vehicle so now MOT exempt. With the engine sorted I'm hoping she will be back on the road before the end of the year

There is a source in 924OC for mains v going to Mittelmotor...new pistons (to any spec), rings etc. are also available

Rebuilt engine now back in the car and running :thumbright: Radiator re-cored

With the brakes, suspension, fuel system all rebuilt she is mechanically sound but looks rough

Now comes the tough part - making her look good again
