Have just acquired a 924 Martini as a money pit - sorry I meant restoration project.

Wifey said I was working too much and needed a distraction ( a year on from selling the 928) so it came along at the right time.

It's complete but a near basket case so I suspect I will have to work harder now to pay for the parts and restoration

Any thoughts welcome from anyone with knowledge of these cars

Paul

A rewarding car to restore, but trim is now very difficult to obtain, pictures and details would be interesting.

Great to see another 924 on here. Bought mine 2.5 years ago and the simplicity of it makes it a great car to work on. Most of the work has been remove, clean, refit and any parts I've needed have caused me no problems to obtain.

The only oddity will of course will be some of the martini trim should it be needed.

Looking forward to seeing the photos and progress as you go along.

You've gone and done it then have you Mister B. It looks like the 924 bug has you firmly in it's grips. I had a N/A for 10 years, so I am happy to give advice if required.

The interior is complete - badly faded in places and the drivers seat is split where the centre fabric meets the vinyl but I think it can be sorted.
Carpets and remaining interior are very dirty and a bit damp but again I think can be saved.
Exterior is poor and will need a lot of work - pictures look better than it really is and mechanicals are an unknown

You need to check with Thomas at werk924 that he has the material, last I heard it was all gone.

Except for the door mirrors looks a genuine car

I thought that all Werk24 fabrics were reproductions?

Upholstery fabrics: Reproductions of German quality weavings and original Remainders.
The fabrics or leatherette tracks are between 1.30m - 1.50m wide. (= Lm).

Great stuff Paul, good project.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!

Think I need to convince my wife I need a 996 project on top of the mini one we already have :D

Not so keen if it involves working hard though :D

You've got 2 1/2 months to get it running in time for Beaulieu

I did think they were odd as I couldn't find any pics of Martini cars with similar mirrors. Will be needing a set of door mirrors then :D

Engine is turning over but won't fire as the metering head is seized.

If anyone has one (pre '79) lying around please let me know
