I've just got into my 944 and put the clutch down and that's where it stayed until I put my foot under it and pushed it up slightly, then it bounced back up as if a spring had just got hold of it. Any ideas what's happened? The car will go into gear and drive but i have only 2 clutch positions, fully down and fully up.

Problem with the clutch master or slave cylinder. In my case it was the slave cylinder. Check for leaks on both. Check quantity of clutch fluid, could be a hose leak.

Thanks for confirming my fears. Really didn't need this so close to getting the actual clutch done. Could barely afford to get the clutch fitted. :(

At least I know and can source parts. Any suggestions seeing as euro car parts are out of stock?

You can use a Volvo rebuild kit if you want a cheap fix, 22mm bore or 7/8 inch for the slave

I will look back through my eBay purchases and see if I can find the kit I used

Like this kit, should have enough bits for a fix, polish the bore of the cylinder with some 1600 grade paper before rebuilding,

Thanks for the idea but unfortunately i need to buy the part. I have the AA coming out on home start tomorrow so need to figure out where to source the part before they arrive.

Just had the guy out, appears the master cylinder has been dripping for some time because of the fluid on the carpet under the pedal. The AA guy was really impressive, the whole organisation have been spot on from start to finish so had to say it for all to see. So he filled up the reservoir and bled it through, it seems to be back to normal until I can get the cylinder fitted. Shame I couldn't get one to fit this morning otherwise he'd have fitted it.

Long story cut short version: The 944 is back up and running.
