Is it skimmed beyond tolerance? There is a dimple in the face to indicate maximum skim allowed. Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs, but if it's got too much compression it will likely detonate.

Steve from Oldham engine center says it will be fine with a turbo gasket. Will soon find out. Don't remeber seeing any dimple in the face! He's done a lot of 44's so he should know what he's doing. If not it will be a fresh head! :| (And 2 more weeks off the road.)

I don't remember seeing it on mine either, but I was told afterward that it's there!

Not sure if it's there or not! Well it's back together & it doesn't detonate. Only driven it a few miles though. Much smoother than it was :D It had 2 new valves not one. Hope the cometic cam box gasket does the trick & can last to the next belt change!

Head was £200 all in including turbo head gasket set. (Thats inc 2 valves.) The Cam box one I got from Lindsey Racing as I'm fed up with the stock ones blowing out. Strange thing. Took the car to work today. The flat spot that the car has had since I got it. That was worse after messing with the fuel rail. It's gone completely. It just flys from tickover now. I need to get this over to Wayne at Milnrow to see whats happened. Can't believe it's been running on 3 since I got it. :blackeye: These things deteriorate slowly & the balance shafts mask the symptoms. Whatever it's a different car to the one I bought from ebay. :alien:

Well. The extra power caused extra heat. Heater hose let go on Sat am. Had to abandone the car as it's too close to home for recovery. The guy whos always towed it befores gone to New Zealand. So I either wait for the new hose to come. Or pay lots of money to get if recovered. :? Hose is too bad for a bandage. Tryed shortening it. It split agian in seconds. It's hard to get at as well. Wondering if I should take the morning off & go a try to get it back. Didn't have time to bother with it at the weekend.

your not havin much luck mate, aint you got a reletive or mate that can drag you back? also you can get lengths of heater hose i think its 3/4" bore? from any good parts shop try that before paying porsche prices for OEM hose. get a long piece and replace all the small bore rubber lines.

Hose is Z shape. Only £3! including postage. But I need it yesterday. Don't have another car & it's a long walk to Halfrauds. In fact it's a 45m walk to the car. Don't know anyone with a car able to tow it. '44s not light. Don't fancy the job in the dark either. Arkward enough if you can see it. Should have known about the hose. My fault really.
