Hi Tim,

Just joined this forum having read about your build on a beach in Mexico... I love it!

Hopefully you're still an active member as I realise this is a really old thread, but I want a price for you to build me an engine on an S2 if you can be bothered, or a consultant fee for a local firm to do the mucky stuff?

I love 944's, have had several including four cabrios, and think I might buy my second to last S2 cab back next week when I'm the UK again.

Loved the car, all of them actually, but I think I need your magic worked over one to keep...

Cheers

Nav

Hi Nav, I'm glad to hear you liked the build thread and made interesting reading while getting sunburn. Sorry I've not replied earlier but have other projects on the go. I hope you found a nice S2.

Cheers Tim

That's good to hear - would have been such a shame to sell it after all that work

Hi Guy's, I know its been a while, near on two years to be exact. I've been busy at work etc. and using the Porsche has been limited. Its done only a couple of thousand miles in total and I decided it was time for a couple of upgrades and some checks. The last time I was on I was after advice on shocks and suspension upgrades.
I stripped out the whole rear end, completely rebuilt the rear suspension, re:- powder coated and painted. All new bushes, wheel bearing's, bolts, nuts and washers. The torque tube was also fitted with four new heavy duty bearing's which I got from America.
After completing the rear end I turned my attention to the front, totally stripping the front suspension. I suspended the engine, removed the cross-member and dropped off the sump. I'm glad I decided to do this has the oil pickup pipe support was cracked. This I reinforced and refitted the sump pan. The front end then got the same attention has the rear. I decided to go for KW Variant 3 shockers which look great

I'm thinking of changing the wheels, ten J's on the front and 11 J's rear, any suggestions welcome.
I wanted to put up some pictures but can not remember how!

Cheers Tim

Sounding really great Tim. It's surprising how many cars do have a cracked pickup so it's good that you caught it before anything went south.

Hi all, another upgrade done, I've had a steering rack done for the Porsche which brings the rack ratio down from 3.25 to 2.2. This as made the steering more responsive, but a little heavier until you get on the move.

Cheers Tim

Hi Tim
Did you change your wheels for the 10's and 11's, and what power/boost do you have for just running around.

Paul

No Paul, Not found any wheels yet that I can get the offset needed. The rear are east but the fronts are being a problem.
As for power and boost I just leave it on full, I don't really use it the wet.

Cheers Tim

Hi Tim , what did you do with the steering rack ? Have both a manual rack and a depowered rack , neither are particularly quick. Was looking at an electric one but that didn’t appeal to me.

Hi, I had a power steering rack converted, which means I had a new rack and pinion made to suit. It was not cheap, but worth it. Cheers Tim
