Has anyone fitted one to their 944?

I quite like the look of them but see it needs a specific boss. Does this put the wheel in a similar place to the stock item or does it higher/lower or move forward/backwards?

Ta,

Ben

Not fitted this specific model but I have a Momo Millenium Sport on my S2 and used a Momo boss as it was the only one I could find that was collapsible, I don't think it changed the position of the original wheel by much if anything it is closer to the instrument cluster and as the wheel is slightly flattened on the bottom actually gives me more leg room. Only thing I would say is not to buy one that is much smaller diameter than the original as you lose sight of the dials and it makes the steering even heavier.

The momo boss will bring the wheel closer, i have a quick detatchable wheel on my S2 which brings the wheel even closer , so i have cut down the momo boss and had it re-welded by a top welder. i will still check the weld for cracks very very regualy tho!

The Prototipo doesnt require a special boss.

Just ensure that you fit the correct Boss for your model. Momo bosses include a horn ring so they are series one or series two specific (early dash or late dash). Cheaper bosses usually dont include a horn ring, you use the part off your original wheel, so they are universal. Make sure that you use the correct ring for your car (477 part number prefix for series one and 928 for series two), or youll set it on fire!

Thanks very much chums.

I've actually gone for a Momo Corse (the original style, not the modern chav style one) and I'm very happy with it. Same size at 350mm.

Going to source the right boss and horn gubbins for it once it arrives. Also fancy a proper Porsche centre for it but they do look a little pricey!

Ta,

Ben

I bought the proper porsche horn center for mine and it looked rubbish too small for the wheel surround so I left it in place and put the Momo leather center in which looks much nicer so £25 wasted there.

You might want to sell it to me cheaply then so you can free up the space!

This is the style I've gone for:

If I had a blank one to replace the horn function of the Porsche one under the Momo cover I would!

It's probably not such an issue in the oval dash cars but in my square dash with a Prototipo the wheel does a damn good job of hiding half the tacho and the temp gauge. The original wheel has an offset centre but the Momo does not.

Well, I have the std wheel on my car now and I can't see the bloody temp guage! I'm 6'3'' so frankly any movement up or down will be better. Not bothered about seeing the speedo as, obviously, I drive to the revs instead...

6'2" here so I feel your pain. Speedo is absolutely fine and the rev counter is only obscured up to 3,000rpm so not a problem if you're driving it properly ;)

Original size horn pushes will fit later wheels (which have a larger centre bore) using the rings that were supplied with the wheel.

I will measure both and post the sizes if itll help anyone.

I was at a loose end. The original centre bore on a Momo wheel (1986 Prototipo measured) is 51.25mm. The bore of the newer style Momo wheels 54.95mm.
